ULAP Commends DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos and Urges Senate Run
The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) on Friday commended the efforts of efforts of Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos (DILG) in addressing the recent floods that have affected various regions of the country.
“His leadership and proactive measures have been crucial in mitigating the impacts of these natural calamities and ensuring the safety and welfare of our communities,” ULAP president and Quirino governor Dax Cua said.
Cua said that ULAP is urging Abalos to consider running for a seat in the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.
He said that under Secretary Abalos’ guidance, the DILG has shown dedication and efficiency in coordinating with local government units (LGUs) to implement swift response and recovery operations.
Likewise, his ability to mobilize resources, facilitate timely communication, and provide strategic direction has significantly reduced potential damage and expedited the restoration of affected areas, the governor added.
“ULAP acknowledges the role Secretary Abalos has played in enhancing the response capabilities of our LGUs. His focus on strengthening local resilience, improving infrastructure, and advocating for sustainable urban planning has set a positive example for public service and governance,” Cua said.
“Given his contributions and proven track record, ULAP believes that Secretary Benhur Abalos is a valuable asset to the nation. We are confident that his vision, leadership, and dedication to public service will greatly benefit the country on a larger scale,” he added.
Cua also said that Abalos’ experience, commitment to good governance, and dedication to serving the Filipino people make him a strong candidate to represent the interests of LGUs and promote national progress and development.
